TASK 8 - Star

Hi, I´m Álvaro and I am the star of this week´s task. As the star of this week, I was in charge of presenting our PLE to the class. This is the PLE I have presented.







First of all, I have to talk about how the task has been completed. This task was about the creation of a PLE (Personal Learning Environment) in an educational context. First of all we read the selection of articles from the book "The Anatomy of PLEs" and watched this video; https://youtu.be/3OurAO-qVeA. We learned a lo from this sources; after reflecting together about the book and video, we had learnt how a PLE is made, what are the key elements and what to include in it. Afterwards we proceeded to get divided in groups and start working in the 3 parts of the PLE for the tutorial subject:

- Reading and accessing to information.

- Doing and reflecting while doing.

- Sharing personal learning network.

We then complemented all our work and put together the PLE diagram for me to present:




Reading and accessing to information.

A teacher in order to get all the information needed to offer a good education in this subject, needs to do a lot of research, as well as contrasting data from different sources of information, such as Youtube, Twitter or an online announcement board. For Youtube, we have thought that a good source for a teacher would be a book following @walter_riso on social media and paying attention to his techniques, from relaxation to psychological techniques, will help to gain knowledge that could be very useful in this subject. Additionally the Youtube channel Smile and Learn would be a good source of information as well. Also, to understand the overall functioning of the platform we think it would be appropiate for a teacher to read the book “YouTube. Todo lo que necesitas saber sobre esta red social”

Regarding the sources of information for an online announcement board, we find appropiate the videos How To Create Class in Edmodo and How to Add Students in Edmodo.Class and Learn to Use Edmodo: Send a Post to a Class or Group, which will provide the teacher with the neccessary information to learn how to use an online announcement board. In addition, the web page live worksheets is a very good source of activities for the student to use in class. Regarding Twitter, almost all the sources previously name can be used for Twitter too, as well as app like whatsapp that can be used to talk with other teachers, to ask questions about the functioning of any app or some research.



Doing and reflecting while doing

A teacher needs to transform all the data collected and the researches done into content, educational content available to use in the classroom. In order to do this, in the case of Youtube, where the teacher would create videos assembling the information that he wants to show the students, the teacher would have to use videos like "COMO HACER TUS MINIATURAS EN PICSART" , where they can learn to use apps, like picsart, which is perfect for creating Youtube videos. Or "Aprender EDICIÓN de VIDEO en 10 MINUTOS" which would help to use a different app called photoshop. In the case of the online announcement board, the teacher would use the app edmodo to create there the post to the class, where they can be made easily. And in the case of Twitter, the content can be created in the app itself, or using external apps like youtube or zoom.



Sharing personal learning network.

In order to present all the data collected and content created to the students, it needs to be uploaded and shared on the internet. For Youtube, the content can just be shared in the app, where the students can leave their comments, asking question or suggesting improvements. In the case of Twitter is the same, the content would be uploaded in the app. and also the students have the option to leave their feedback. In the case of an online announcement board, the content can be uploaded to Edmodo, or other social media, like Instagram,Twitter, or even shared via e-mail to the students.


During the week, our group has worked several days in the construction of this PLE. We believe it´s been a tough task, as we found some trouble deciding what and what not to put on the diagram, where to focus the most etc. . Specially, I found lot of trouble in how to structure the explanation of our PLE, specially taking into account that half way through we found out we were doing things wrong and we had to start over many things.


On tuesday we were all very nervous, not knowing if we did it right or not. We practised many times before the class and hoped for the best. However we got partially wrong the main idea, we had to focus more on the subject and make it less general. But that isn´t bad news, we just learned how to do it and instantly got together to fix it all. I believe that this task has been tough for all of us but is good having a group like this because everything goes smoothly even though we have many problems.
