Hi everyone! It's Noemí, and I am glad to be the person who exposes the last task of our subject Resources and ICT.

We started the task by asking ourselves "What does a good teacher need nowadays?" And in our answer was: A teacher must be competent in several aspects, and all of them must be related. One of these competencies is the management of ICT, let's see what it is about.

However, after reading the document provided by our teacher, we learned more about "Holistic Teaching Competence for a Digital World" as the title of the document says.

Firstly, we stood out the main elements and their features, which were:

Creator and manager of emerging educational practices.

  • New emerging communication environments that involve changes.

  • Enrich traditional methods of study.

  • Socio-constructivist approaches.

  • Improving his or her usual teaching strategies.

Expert in digital pedagogical content.

The knowledge of the teacher is linked with:

  • Disciplinary specialization (known as the Pedagogical Content Knowledge).

  • Disciplinary knowledge.

  • Technological Content Knowledge.

Augmented Reflective Practitioner.

The teacher seeks the development of practical knowledge based on his/her own teaching experiences.

(Being able to connect our knowledge without personal experience is crucial to becoming a catching and appealing teacher)

Expert in enriched learning environments.

The teacher's PLE, as the realization of all the elements of his/her learning ecology, includes:

  • the resources

  • information sources

  • connections

  • activities» that a teacher uses regularly to learn, but also the attitudes and conditioning that organize our learning activities.

(As we have learned before, having a rich PLE is fundamental for enriching our students PLE, we are more influential than we think, so be the best influence that you can)

Sensitive to the use of technology from the social commitment perspective.

  • «Legal» use of information or on security and digital identity.

  • The school should form-critical, reflective, and committed digital citizens.

  • Implement models of «critical pedagogy of representation» or «critical literacy».

  • Know how to use social media to enrich this investigation.

(Regarding what we have learned about the importance of being aware of the use of technologies, being sensitive of their use is the base to be an example for our students)

Able to use ICT to expand relations with families and learners’ surroundings.

  • The teacher takes a closer role in the student's environment to improve learning conditions.

  • Communication between teachers, families, and the community.

  • Reduce the digital gap by providing access to school ICT resources.

After that, we also thought about The relationships with other elements of education/society and participants in the educational process:

In the beginning, the idea was this one :

But at the end was like this:

In conclusion, we would like to remember that ICT is not only about competencies, it is something for our life. Keep learning!
